Malin is on the verge of crawling which means the frustration level and whining at our house as at an all time high.  But I will say that this past month has been so fun to see more and more personality.  Malin is a social butterfly and I just love it.  She loves to be out and about and will literally "squawk" at people to try to get their attention and they flash them a smile.  This girl has not had any problems with stranger danger.  I am obsessed with my happy baby.  So here is the latest from us:

1. Ears. A major improvement in her ears as determined by the ENT which buys us more time and less chance that we will have to go the tube route.  

2. Ms. Malin says "Ms" now so I've heard a few "mamas" in there! Not really at me, but at least we're headed in that direction.

3. Sleep. Malin goes to bed around 7ish and may or may not take a bottle or nurse at 10.  Then she's up between 6:30-7.

4. Clapping.  Oh and this girl loves to clap.  See our video! 

5.  Reading.  Malin finally is getting interested in books.  This month our favorite was "That's not my bear" and Malin can find all the things that make it the mouse's "wrong" bear (squishing nose, too soft paws, too shiny paws, scratchy tongue).

Miss M is actually approaching 9 months, but we are always behind! We made it to the doc this last week for our well check up and here are the stats:

Malin @ 8.5months

Weight: 16lbs 6oz (15th percentile)

Height: 28 inches (50th percentile)

Head: 42cm

This month, Malin decided she was too grown up for solids and much prefers chomping away at little bits...puffs her favorite followed by cheese and blueberries.   Our biggest development was between 7 and 8 months, Malin started to sleep through the night.  Well, at least from 10- 6 or 7.  This happened when L was on night shift, so naturally he decided it would be a great time to do good old cry it out.  Well, the first night lasted 1.5 hrs, second was 45 min and then the 3rd...MAGIC.  Or else I just turned off the monitor and didn't wake up... :)

We've been to the ENT for ear and COUNTLESS other doctors for ear issues.  Other BIG BIG BIG news is two front teeth that popped up! Such a big girl.  

Favorite sounds are Da, SSSSS, and TTT...of course no Ms for mama. :( 

This month we went to Boston and to Colorado.

A 7 month lady

Well....I'm about 2 weeks late.  Sounds about right.  I'm going with the ear infection excuse.  Since Dec 19, Malin has had 4 ear infections (2 of which were doubles) and has been on four rounds of antibiotics.  I'm praying our last round kicked this thing in the butt.

Well between 6 and 7 months the theme was ears and not eating or sleeping.  We did have some fun though! At the end of January we headed to San Diego to hang with the Ericksons AND the Kings.  It was a blast.

So without further ado, San Diego...

We thought she was happy on the sand...but the water, oh the water! She is a water baby. (and it was FREEZING).

My Valentine(s)

This year I had two valentine's.  One brought me home flowers from the hospital gift shop and the other brought me lots of laundry and diapers to handle.  Both were just as sweet. 

Best of friends

Bentley may not know it yet, but he has a new best friend.  Malin over the last few weeks has become VERY interested in our furry friend.  She'll stop crying if she hears Bentley walk into the room, she loves to give him pets or ear pulls, and best of all, she likes to give him wet kisses just like he does to her (although we do try to discourage this!).

6 months

Well, January 8 came and past with no post! We spent the morning of Malin's half birthday in Port Jefferson with my good friend Susanne...followed by a quick trip to Dr. Schwartz since I had an inkling that M's ear infection hadn't cleared up (Thanks Susanne for convincing me!). Unfortunately, our suspicions were correct...M has a double ear infection.  So another 10 days of antibiotics it is.  In the meantime, she let me take her picture, but wasn't quite in full spirit.

Malin's 5 month stats

Weight: 14lbs5oz (16th percentile)

Length: 26 inches (55th percentile...she went from 25th to 55th in one month!)

Head: 41 cm (11th percentile...ugh oh!)

This month Malin...
-learned how to sit up
-Eats rice cereal, oatmeal, pear, apple, banana, avocado, sweet potato, mango, and her favorite...PRUNES!)
-sleeps from about 7-10 then 10-4 and awake at 7:30
-laughed at a little boy in her daycare when he started crying
-finally sleeps unswaddled (that may have happened right at 5 months)
